How to Look After Your WEARS + WRITES Comfort Pieces
Because every single garment in our capsule collections is custom cut and heat-pressed by hand in our independent workspace, your clothing requires a little extra care to stay cozy and pristine for years to come.
To protect your handmade vinyl designs, please follow these laundering steps:
- Wash Inside Out: Always turn your hoodie or sweatshirt inside out before throwing it in the washing machine. This protects the vinyl design from rubbing against zippers or buttons on other clothes.
- Keep it Cool (30°C): Wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C or colder. High heat is the enemy of vinyl adhesive.
- Skip the Fabric Softener: Avoid using fabric softeners or intense liquid conditioners. These chemicals break down the bond between the fabric fibers and the vinyl, which can cause your sleeve slogan to peel.
- Do Not Tumble Dry: Hang-drying your clothing is the best way to preserve the shape of the garment and the quality of the print.
- Never Iron Directly on the Design: If your hoodie gets wrinkled, iron it inside out on a low setting, or place a piece of parchment paper over the text before pressing it with a household iron. Never let the direct hot metal plate touch the vinyl.
